Movie (Bayformers)

The 2007 Transformers movie was what got me interested in TFs in the first place. I love the aesthetics and themes they have going with the the robots, and how they shift from robot to vehicle (and vice-versa).

Had to go with Animated. I just love these things to death. I'm sad that we only have a few more toys left.
jigsaws231 Featured By Owner Dec 17, 2009
Alternators. Awesome scale, best level of detail, neat Tranformations.
Scud01us Featured By Owner Dec 16, 2009
ACK! how to choose... All have there merits in the toys. I think I was looking at that list for a good five minutes before finally going with classics/universe 2.0 and that was a hard call, mainly due to the new molds on old classics, and hey, Hound ROCKS!

I've found myself wanting to streamline everything TF-related I own back to G1, and Masterpiece. I still do, and always will, love TFs, but I kinda feel like it has become overkill with all the incarnations and stuff. I know they have to keep fresh, and I'm ok with that and appreciate the various lines for what they are, but in my old age (lol) I'm just feeling like all I want to focus on is G1 and Masterpiece again.

Sheesh, I'm such an old fogey... lol

While I love G1 toys, I think Animated toys are so colorful and full of character. Ratchet's a joy, and I'm dying for the Arcee to be released.

And Wheeljack would be nice.
JediKaputski Featured By Owner Dec 15, 2009
I love Classics because it encompasses all eras of TFs, and opens up the opportunity to get some really awesome redesigns of our favorite characters. Without the line FansProject wouldn't have made the City Commander set!

Wow, I am not surprised that I am in the minority. I love Minicons so I said the Unicron Trilogy though I am not a fan of Energon or Cybertron. Gen 1 comes in a close second.

I agree that Beast Wars has the most cohesive mythos (ties in with G1) and very well-developed characters.

However, I love Animated best. It has/had the potential to become as richly developed as the Beast stories, but could also lend itself well to crossovers with a wide variety of other universes (DC, Marvel, sentai or Kamen Riders, for instance), since its universe neighbors so closely on ours.

Also, I absolutely love how the design teams for the toys and the show worked so closely together, so the toys actually LOOK like cartoon characters, and the cartoon is actually pretty faithful to the toys.

I voted Bayformers because I'm writing a fanfic in that movieverse, but I grew up on G1 and I love G1. I really enjoy the movieverse and Transformers: Animated. It's far easier to draw the G1 bots, but I'm having fun driving myself completely insane trying to draw the Bayformers. It's hella fun taking artistic license in fanfics, though, but also keeping the characters within their personalities. Testing my skills like that is fun. :)

I am a fan of the IDW verse of things. The Decepticons have purpose and are not just mindless power hungry robots made famous in the G1 era. there really is a rich story there.

i really liked robots in disguise/car robots. maybe it's because it brings back memories when i watched it when i was little, plus i like their stupid jokes and puns XD

I think G1 - G2 gets my nod because it goes so far into the future that so few characters are left from the beginning that it really feels like a generation of characters. I love the ideas of the Japanese TF's.

Go TFA!!!!
Tennyo-Umiko Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
Animated. Hands down. The show-toy accuracy is absolutely incredible, and the character designs themselves have a lot going on for them in terms of quirks and uniqueness. They're very colourful, and I don't feel that there's many, if any of the toys that sacrifice engineering or aesthetics in one mode for the sake of bettering the other. They're all solid all across the board. I like other lines, but Animated's what really got me into toy collecting, and they're easily my most favourite of the bunch (that and Robot Heroes). It sucks that it got canceled. It owned my wallet, and I weep now for the many, many toys that'll never get to be. ;__; Rodimus' team, Team Chaar, Omega Supreme, maybe even Lugnut and Starscream Supremes, Perceptor, Wheeljack, oh how the list goes on and on and on...
starshotseeker Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
I voted for Unicron Trilogy but specifically I have to say Transformers Armada/Micron Legend, because is my favourite series and I love all the designs of the characters, and too that is the line that I have more Tfs on my collection, even when their haven't a lot of posability or articulations, I totally love the toys because they are so cute and awesome. Armada Starscream is my favourite and I still have to get some characters more.

in second place I can put Transformers Cybertron/ Galaxy Force, because is the second line that I have more tfs in my colection and from teh Unicron trilogy is my second fav, but isn't so great as Armada is.

but well still I have to say that I not know a lot of lines because I'm really starting to collect transformers and where I live they are really expensive, but looking at pics on internet I think that Classics/Henkei and Alternators/Binaltech and TF Animated, are so great lines and hope someday could have one of them.

Oooh, cruel and unusual punishment making pick which one I like the best. ;)

I did vote for Animated, but really, Henkei/Classics/Universe, Masterpiece, and G1 and a few select particular figures from various sources (Live action movie, random Japanese versions like Gahaspon figures and such) are what I REALLY like. G1 also has that nostalgic value, and of course, that's all ways a big plus on that. Considering Classics/Henkei/Universe play on that with a more visually appealing look, they get thrown in there as well. I really need to get more of those, honestly. Henkei Thundercracker is one of my holy grails right now, IF I can find a decently priced one (yeah, needle in a haystack on that, lol).

Animated though, I have liked all most every figure they have come out with, can't say the same with a lot of the other lines. Not saying they are bad or whatever, but that is just my personal tastes. If I like a character a lot(Megawutatron), i'll be all over the figures(WELL, unless it's something way in hell i'd get Beast War Megatron), but they have to be pleasing on the eyes too I guess you could say. I'm not totally all crazy about the actual alt modes either (ohshiBlasphemy!), since most of my figures are all in bot mode and probably will stay that way. Lol But, there ya go.

That got a lot longer then I had originally intended, BUT haha. Take it easy~

Beast Wars. I grew up with it and it was a great show. I also like the toys the most for some reason...

Beast Machines was mostly awful, though. Ugh.

Snailybu Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
=u= Classics/Universe 2.0/Henkei for me. or Generation 1, the unicron trilogy wouldn't have been so bad if the second and third parts of it hadn't been testing that crappy 3d animation combo's with whiny human characters who repeat themselves over and over and over the fucking again. I like the "bayformers" but some of the toys were the farts, the only ones I really liked were the human alliance toys and the replicas.

I really want to see a Drift toy, I bought a custom of him and loved it , and a new G1 blurr that doesn't look like he was forged from a bar of blue soap.

For me BeastWars has the most rich fiction but Gen 1 is close to me too. I voted for Beastwars.

Animated because each character is just so damn unique and full of character. The designers really went all out on that toyline.

Beast Wars, all the way!!
TronmanZ Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
G1 and G2 (since I grew up with Generation 2), Universe/Classics/Henkei, or Animated. I also liked the Robots in Disguise and the Unicron Trilogy lines, Beast Wars was good. I hate Beast Machines because I thought the character designs are awful. Not a fan of Bayformers because I don't really like the character designs.
Solrac333 Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
Hard choices. Love G1 but I voted for classics because they are updated versions. I also love the movie toys, Masterpiece, Titanium, and Alternity. Hate Beast Wars and Animated so I pass on those.
Wyote Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
For me it's Beast Wars/Beast Machines. Partly because it was what I grew up on, partly because their were no annoying near useless human characters, partly because I thought the animal forms were great(especially when they went Transmetal and Fuzor), and partly because Cheetor to this day is still my favorite Transformer.
Crazedyote Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
For me I chose Other why?

Alternators, the finished look of the vehicle is nice and clean. Same goes for the Masterpiece's, sadly I only have masterpiece Skywarp but still.

Yes Black Corvette Ravage Alternator is win!

G1 for me, tho I enjoyed BW and TFA a lot too.

I liked aspects of BM and the Bay movies. The TFs in the Bay movies were, to steal a term, "junktastic" -not that that is bad in itself but... I think Bee looks a bit like a sad Bulldog. :S

Kiss Players = so disturbing... O.O My TF universe would a happier place if I'd never heard of it...

How specific do we need to be? About the art, or the characters or the dialogue...?
Jetstreamx Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Given it's extreme versatility, granted it seems to have the most potential to be both serious and silly and not seem too out of character, I went with G1, even though the whole change in the kind of story could lead to anything from massive plotholes to a total story reboot.
Neurquadic Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
I have to say, I love the various designs in the Bayformer movies though. They're all really interesting!

i voted for g1, but i like the majority of the series.
i guess there were some great designs that came from g1 that are easy to play with and tweak to suit any style of illustration. you can go simplistic, or super detailed. just my two cents :)

channandeller Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
binaltech/alternators/masterpiece... mostly cos theyre the kind of tfs you always imagined your g1 toys to be... that said i'm also quite font of the classics/henkei too.
poweriser-sprog Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
Classics/Universe 2.0
They were a nice combination of G1 stuff and more modern ideas.
thomasVanDijk Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
G1, Classics/Universe/Henkei and Masterpiece have my interest. Top of the list would be G1.
SergeantDuck Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
Tricky question. Depends on which character you're going after. Alternators Hound is fucking amazing while Henkei's Prowl and Ratchet are pretty bad ass themselves. Then you have Binaltech Wheeljack and Mirage which are straight up sexy as all hell. TFA has some neat designs too having a unique "roundness" to them. But of course you cannot leave out G-1, specially some of the more classic metal ones like Wheeljack (which is a bitch to find in good condition I might add!!!) I'll also give props to the Robot Replicas you find with the newer movie characters. Hope that was specific enough for ya.

...SHIT theres a henkei ratchet????
SergeantDuck Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009

Though his red coloring kinda looks a "wee bit" orange-ish in real life.

Henkei Red Alert turned out pretty damn hawt too.

oh... oh wow... that ratchet kinda just... ruined my ideals of henkei :XD:
lolsideswipe repaint with shoulder cannon. Win.
...i'll probably still buy that Ratchet though :XD: despite the fact that is THE fugliest ambulance i've ever seen.
SergeantDuck Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
I dunno, I kinda like him; but then again I've yet to find a Ratchet I really like which sucks since he's tied with Wheeljack as my favorite characters.
otamachamp Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
I have to go with Alternators/Binaltech, seeing as they're more realistic without going overly armorplate crazy like the Bayformers. Don't get me wrong, I have love for them too, as well as Beast Wars being a close second in my overall list, but the Binaltechs had functionality as well as aesthetics.

captaincabbage Featured By Owner Dec 14, 2009
lol I'm the only one to say Beast Wars! ;P

I have an affection towards Beast Wars because it was the first Transformers I knew, the old 3d animated tv show I got on VHS was like my god back when I was about nine, tem maybe.

Plus, Optimus as a gorilla? BRILLIANT!! :B
