Saw the Preview was up over on IDW Publishing's website! (preview: [link] ) (other books out this week: [link] )
The 5 page preview was out, so I figured I'd post 'em here! This was an exciting book to work on guys : D! Story by Shane McCarthy Artwork by (Alex Milne) Colors by: MY PUNK ASS!
You do excellent colors, and I love that Milne used such obscure Cons like Roadgrabber or G2 Ransack...
But have to say, the story so far is pretty bland. I mean, I was expecting a kind of Mary Sue comic from Shane, but he has outdone himself. Only 5 pages, and Drift has already proven how uber-cool he is by slaughtering tons of Autobots, making the hardcore Sunstreaker run away in fear, then killing his own superior for showing a sign of weakness, and then pulling a Houdini and escaping... All what's missing is him leaping a tall building...
Nevertheless, I will check out the book to see any more such awesome cameos. I mean, Horri-Bull! You cannot NOT love that name.
*agrees with no prips on the sexy part* ahem. CEL SHADDINGGGGG!!!! god that style is so heavily under rated for comics D8. and it looks so awesome (provided some softness to go with it of course). I think I read somewhere before that this had been suposed to be a diferent time of day scene? which was eventually changed to this? If so, care to explain why? *raises eyebrows*.
Originally the time of day was an evening setting; I figured that Decepticons storming around and killing stuff was better suited with a setting sun- like "hope is leaving us" kinda thing. HOWEVER, using that time of day put everyone in orange hues- and, as my editor pointed out, since this is the first time we get to see Deadlock, it was better to put in natural lighting. Me, my editor, and Alex mulled over different types of ideas for skies, but in the end, blue stood out the best(and contrasted a lot of the warm colors going on) and it allowed us to present Deadlock in his colors so readers would have a clear comprehension of the character.
I see. though it would have indeed been interesting to have seen the other version. although you did loose that recognition and presentation effect, it would give a lot more drama to it.
