P.S. You guys really did a good job! I can't wait to read it pffffffffffffffft!Been experimenting myself, trying to get something that looks "alive" and mechanical at the same time. Most of my experiments have em looking too much like Gundams for my liking.
There are usually three sections to the eyes I do(four in that last panel)- the highlight, the flat color, and the middle tone. The highlight is usually white to some degree and is just used to accent the eye itself. I don't know if there's some rule to where I place it, but it's usually in the middle to some degree, or in the top corner and bottom corner(opposite side of the top corner). The middle tone is where I have the most fun- I almost always use the bottom half of the eye for this tone, and I try to accent some kind of working eye mechanic in there for the pupil/iris area of the eye.
