The people over at ComicBreak(DOT COM!) are doing this thing where you can watch the 1986 TF movie over at the Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio, TX(Fanboy Fliks!) and then I sign copies of RiD #1(which are apparently also signed by TF-editor/RiD Writer/one of my bosses John Barber!). ANYWAY! So they were all "hey can you do a print for us!?" and I was all "WHO MEEEEEE??" And they said "WE LOVE SENTIENT BURRITOS!" and I was all "DDDDDDDDDDDDDD'OKAY!!!" And I did it.
Originally, I was going to do this all 1980's Marvel comic like; half-tone patterns on colors that needed it and the Marvel comics designs and colors for them(if they are all done up according to their Marvel Universe profile models), but I accidentally fully rendered the Alamo sketch so yeah... that happened(note: I used a LOT of references for the Alamo and, as you can see, it didn't turn out very Alamo-like! I even forgot the bars on the windows!). Anyways- there was supposed to be more black values on them, but wasn't getting it to work right on everyone... I mean, Rodimus looks like he has BENDY ARMS... man... The overall image is supposed to feel very cartoony; I was originally going to use their TF:A models(don't think the Sharkticons or Scourge had one...), then it was a comic style, then I was all "fuck it" because I think the comic colors would have thrown off people and they'd be all "They're not colored like this..."
BLAH BLAH BLAH. So I did have fun working on this for them- and I hope I can see some of you guys out there on Sunday! I'LL BE SIGNING BOOKS AND PRINTS AND WATCHING TRANSFORMERS ZA MOVIE IN SAN ANTONIO TEJAS!
I adore this! The nostalgia this digs up is just filling my heart. = u = Your smooth designs and colours, of course, never fail to impress the pants off me. One day, Josh...one day, I will defeat the Minotaur and unlock the secrets to your talent. > n >
